“Read & Play” Project

Third graders at Ponce de Leon Elementary in Clearwater show off their new books and play balls during the annual “Read & Play” Project, hosted by the law firm of Perenich, Caulfield, Avril & Noyes. The long-running community initiative, held this year in celebration of the firm’s 70th anniversary, promotes summer safety, literacy, and outdoor activity.

Perenich, Caulfield, Avril & Noyes proudly gave back to the community May 16 as it celebrates its 70th anniversary by continuing its “Read & Play” Project to third graders at Clearwater’s Ponce de Leon Elementary School.

The annual initiative, designed to promote safety, literacy, and physical activity among third graders, featured an interactive safety talk led by attorneys Matthew Noyes and Jacqlyn Bryant. The students participated in discussions about how to stay safe during the summer — whether riding a bike, walking near roads, swimming, or riding in a car.

To encourage the students to put down the game controllers, each student received a brand-new book to enjoy during the summer months and a play ball to encourage outdoor fun and movement.

“The kids were enthusiastic, the teachers were incredibly welcoming, and the entire experience was heartwarming,” said Rosani Carrasquel, director of operations at the firm. “It was a joy to see how much the children appreciated the books and balls. We truly believe in what this project stands for and can’t wait to bring it to even more schools across the community in the years to come.”

Noyes added, “There’s nothing better than being able to give back while helping educate children about staying safe and healthy.”

Bryant echoed the sentiment: “Watching the students engage and get excited was incredibly rewarding, this is what community involvement is all about.”
