President Stewart reaffirms The Florida Bar’s commitment to equal justice
Today Florida Bar President John M. Stewart released this statement:
“As our nation navigates these unprecedented times, The Florida Bar remains committed to equal justice for all and the full exercise of every American’s Constitutional rights, including the right to freedom of speech. Some Bar members have asked if we will take an official position on the civil rights issues of the past week. As an arm of the Florida Supreme Court we are prohibited from taking official positions on specific ideological or political issues. But we will honor our oath to support the causes of the oppressed or defenseless and will work to fulfill the purpose of The Florida Bar to serve the public and improve the administration of justice.”
