Sklar recognized for his work chairing the Condominium Life Safety Advisory Task Force

Margaret “Peggy” Rolando, William P. Sklar, and Joseph Adams William P. Sklar, center, of the West Palm Beach office of Carlton Fields accepts a commendation for his service as chair of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section’s Condominium and Planned Development Committee from 2015-2021, and now chairing the Post-Surfside Champlain Towers South “Condominium Life Safety Advisory Task Force.”  Presenting the recognition at the 46th Institute on Condominium and Planned Development were current Condominium and Planned Development Committee Co-Chairs Margaret “Peggy” Rolando of Shutts in Miami and Joseph Adams of Becker of Ft. Myers.  The task force was formed to study the June 24 collapse of Champlain Towers South in Surfside that claimed 98 lives and has been meeting regularly with engineers, insurance industry officials, condominium managers, and other experts as it prepares recommendations for Gov. Ron DeSantis and lawmakers ahead of the January legislative session. The task force has been focusing on such things as the reinspection programs, condominium board governance, maintenance fee assessments, reserve policies, insurance, and how boards communicate with residents.
