The annual committee preference form for Bar members seeking appointment for the upcoming 2021-22 Bar year will be available December 1 at floridabar.org and are due no later than January 15, 2021.

President-elect Michael Tanner will make over 500 appointments to more than 70 committees and he wants to be sure he has a diverse group of lawyers from which to choose. Each Florida Bar Committee’s function and current membership can be found on the Bar’s website.

“There is no better way to give back to our great profession and enrich your career than by serving on a Bar committee or section,” Tanner said. “Please consider serving and fill out and submit the preference form.”

Tanner will consider many factors, including:

• Diversity, including, but not limited to, gender, ethnicity, geography, practice area;

• Prior service to the Bar and voluntary bar organizations;

• The need to infuse new members into a committee; and

• Previous committee participation and contributions.

If you are currently serving on a committee, check The Florida Bar’s website to determine if your current term expires in 2021; if so, you need to submit a committee preference form to be considered for reappointment. Remember if you are seeking to serve for the first time or seeking reappointment you must submit an online form by January 15, 2021.
