Want to serve on a Bar committee?

Preference forms are available online

The annual committee preference form for Bar members seeking appointments for the term of President-elect John M. Stewart are available at and are due no later than January 15, 2019.

John M. Stewart President-elect Stewart will make about 500 appointments to over 70 committees and he wants to make sure he has a diverse group of lawyers from which to choose. Every Florida Bar committee and its description with current membership can be found on the Bar’s website at

In making committee appointments President-elect Stewart will consider many factors, including:

• Diversity, including, but not limited to, gender, ethnicity, geography, practice area;

• Prior service to the Bar and voluntary bar organizations;

• The need to infuse new members into a particular committee; and

• Previous committee participation and contributions.

If you are currently serving on a committee, it is also important to check The Florida Bar’s website to determine if your term expires in 2019; if so, you need to submit a committee preference form to be considered for reappointment. Remember if you are seeking to serve for the first time or seeking reappointment you must submit an online form by January 15.
