The annual committee preference form for Florida Bar members seeking appointment for the upcoming 2022-23 Bar year will be available December 1 at and are due no later than January 15, 2022.

President-Elect Gary Lesser will make over 1,000 appointments to more than 70 committees and he wants to be sure he has a diverse group of lawyers from which to choose. Each Florida Bar Committee’s function and current membership may be found on the Bar’s website.

“The Florida Bar committees are where the heavy lifting gets done for our legal profession in Florida,” Lesser said. “Please take a minute and submit the preference form, and I look forward to working with you.”

Lesser will consider many factors, including:

  • Diversity, including, but not limited to, gender, ethnicity, geography, practice area;
  • Prior service to the Bar and voluntary bar organizations;
  • The need to infuse new members into a committee; and
  • Previous committee participation and contributions.

If you are currently serving on a committee, check The Florida Bar’s website to determine if your current term expires in 2022; if so, you need to submit a committee preference form to be considered for reappointment. Remember if you are seeking to serve for the first time or seeking reappointment you must submit an online form by January 15, 2022.
