YLD redesigns website

The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division will launch a complete redesign of its website this month as part of the division’s increased communication efforts, spearheaded by YLD President Sean Desmond.

Sean Desmond Other efforts include monthly distribution of the revamped YLD e-newsletter, featuring helpful tips for new and solo practitioners and articles written by division members.

“Young lawyers rely more and more on technology and social networking for keeping them informed,” said Drew Jenkins, chair of the YLD website subcommittee.

“Keeping our website design current and providing an efficient platform for information that young lawyers can utilize to succeed is incredibly important to our mission.”

The new website — which the YLD will debut at its Affiliate Outreach Conference January 18-22 in St. Augustine — offers a cleaner, more accessible, unified design of the YLD’s multiple webpages and highlights Bar and division-sponsored opportunities provided to YLD members.

“It is really a complete redesign of the website from the ground up to make it both more current and a more user-friendly environment,” said Jenkins.

At the beginning of his presidential term, Desmond, a solo practitioner in Tallahassee, expressed his desire for the YLD to unite technology and communication, encouraging attorneys to publicize professionalism programs and to foster a sense of camaraderie among members.

“I truly believe that communication is the key,” Desmond said in his remarks at the 2011 annual meeting.

Drew Jenkins Homepage improvements to the website include links to the YLD’s Twitter and Facebook pages and a listing of upcoming events and announcements pertaining to members. Links to the Law Student Division page and the updated Practicing with Professionalism program are also featured. Each YLD committee will have its own separate page with event and meeting details.

The new YLD website can be accessed beginning January 18 at its current URL, www.flayld.org.
