Almost 500 run for Probono
The Hillsborough County Bar Association held its 16th Annual Pig Roast/Food Festival and 5K Pro Bono River Run on April 13, with a record-breaking crowd of almost 500 attendees. The run was held along the Riverwalk in downtown Tampa, followed by the Pig Roast at Stetson Law Tampa Campus.
The goal of the race continues to be the pledging and performing of pro bono service by runners and walkers participating in the race, who also encourage others to support their participation by pledging their own pro bono hours. As an incentive, runners who pledged at least 25 hours of pro bono services received a discounted registration rate of $25.
This year, lawyers sought to increase pro bono service pledges by run participants and adopted a new tagline for the run – #5K for 5K – highlighting a goal of raising 5,000 pro bono hour pledges through the run.
