In recognition of Black History Month, the 12th Judicial Circuit and the Sarasota County Bar Association’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee displayed reproductions of 15 historic markers of the Newtown community. These markers celebrate the development, history, architecture and legacy of activism of this community.  The Newtown Historic Marker program is a part of the larger Newtown Alive initiative, which recognizes the contributions of the citizens of this historic and culturally diverse community in Sarasota. The display was set in the lobby of the Silvertooth Judicial Center.
