Charity Benefits from Foundation Barbecue
A fun-filled evening best describes the Collier County Bar Foundation’s Backyard Barbecue, which took place on Feb. 24. Guest enjoyed a pub crawl, Rock and Roll hits from the 60s, barbecue and then a Naples Beach Brewery and Whiskey Park venture aboard the Trolley.
This year’s event benefited The Holocaust Museum of Southwest Florida and its efforts to create a program for local schools to learn about Irena Sendler — a Polish nurse, social worker and humanitarian. Sendler smuggled approximately 2,500 Jewish children out of Warsaw during the Holocaust. This story was the subject of the children’s book “Irena Sendler and The Children of The Warsaw Ghetto“, illustrated by Florida artist Bill Farnsworth. A $5,000 check was presented to the museum staff at the event.
