Whenever a judicial vacancy occurs, the governor fills the vacancy by appointment from a list of candidates nominated by the circuit’s Judicial Nominating Commission.

Judicial Nominating Commissions Vacancies

The Florida Bar is accepting applications for lawyer vacancies on each of the 2nd DCA, 3rd DCA, 9th, 15th, 17th and 18th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commissions. Applications must be submitted no later than August 24.

Current judicial vacancies include:

9th Judicial Circuit

The Ninth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission announces a vacancy on the Orange County bench created by the elevation of Judge Jamie Grosshans to the Fifth District Court of Appeal. Applications must be submitted by Sept. 11.

18th Judicial Circuit

The 18th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission announces a vacancy in the Circuit Court of Brevard County to fill the vacancy created by the elevation of Circuit Judge John M. Harris to the 5th District Court of Appeal. The deadline for submission of the application is Sept. 14.
