Minnis Bar Leads Effort to Honor Its Namesake
The leadership of the Fred G. Minnis, Sr. Bar Association is proud to announce the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted to rename the Pinellas County law library in Clearwater, in honor of Fred G. Minnis, Sr. Many elected officials and legal professionals, including the 2020-2021 Executive Board supported the Association’s effort to have the building renamed in his honor. Minnis was the first black full-time lawyer in Pinellas County. Following his pioneering efforts in the legal profession, the Minnis Bar Association was founded to promote and provide a support system for talented minority lawyers in Pinellas County and to promote justice and education in the surrounding communities.
