A sold-out virtual event with 500 lawyers and judges logging in from around the state set the tone for a successful Statewide Virtual Mock Evidentiary Hearing on May 15, the first of its kind in Florida. The judicial panel brought together Judge Ross M. Goodman, 1st Judicial Circuit; Judge Waddell Wallace, 4th Judicial Circuit; Judge Beatrice Butchko, 11th Judicial Circuit; Judge Hunter Carroll, 12th Judicial Circuit; Judge Rex M. Barbas, 13th Judicial Circuit; and Judge Carol Lisa Phillips, 17th Judicial Circuit. The seminar covered best practices, circuit guidelines, the future of virtual proceedings, a judge’s perspective and trial presentation tech tips. The event was hosted by the Broward County Bar Association, Dade County Bar Association, Sarasota County Bar Association, Hillsborough County Bar Association, Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association, Jacksonville Bar Association, ABOTA Fort Lauderdale Chapter, and U.S. Legal Support.
